SHORT NOTICE! Old Royal Naval College – Painted Hall Ceiling
14 June @ 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm
A Close-Up look at the Ceiling of the Painted Hall at Greenwich
The Master and Wardens invite fellow Constructors along with their guests to this much anticipated private tour of the restoration and conservation works on the ceiling of the Painted Hall in the Old Royal Naval College at Greenwich. This will be a guided tour of the works and will allow you to get “up close and personal” with this major piece of art work by Sir James Thornhill, in the beautiful Sir Christopher Wren buildings of the Old Royal Naval College.
For those that wish, we will travel on a sightseeing boat cruise from Westminster to Greenwich, but you can also join us at Greenwich if that is more convenient.
We apologise for the late notice of this event, and whilst the numbers are limited because of the nature of the visit, we would welcome people to this “once in a lifetime” event – the ceiling is only normally visible in a mirror at ground floor level, but here we will climb up to the temporary decking that has been erected to allow the works to be undertaken.
Please contact the organiser Roger Lilley (firstname.lastname@example.org) as soon as possible if you wish to join in this event.
The flyer for the event can be downloaded here.
