Event Navigation

The Imperial War Museum

The Master and Wardens are pleased to announce that, courtesy of the Gallant Clerk, they have been able to secure an out-of-hours guided tour at the Imperial War Museum.   The tour is initially limited to 15 people and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, with a waiting list, but if early applications are sufficient to warrant a second tour we will make the necessary arrangements for one thereby doubling the numbers who can come.

The tour will be followed by a wine and soft drinks reception in the atrium of the Museum.

The First World War Galleries at the Museum allow visitors to discover the story of the First World War through the eyes of the British people and the Empire, both on the home front and the fighting fronts. On display are over 1,300 objects from IWM’s collections including weapons, uniforms, diaries,  keepsakes, film and art. Each object on display gives a voice to the people who created them, used them or cared for them, and reveals stories not only of destruction, suffering and loss, but also endurance and innovation, duty and devotion, comradeship and love.

Following the visit to the Museum those that are so inclined will be able to join fellow Constructors and their guests for further refreshment on a pay-as-you-go basis at a local hostelry.

The nearest underground stations are Lambeth North (Bakerloo line) and Elephant and Castle (Bakerloo and Northern Lines).  We will meet each other at 6pm by the Big Guns at the front of the Museum.

Bookings should be made by emailing the Organiser, Cheryl Moreton
