Christmas Carol Service

The Worshipful Company of Constructors held their annual Christmas Carol Service at our Guild Church of St Lawrence Jewry last evening.  It was held in conjunction with the Worshipful Company of Chartered Architects and the Guild of Entrepreneurs and resulted in an almost full congregation, who sang several Christmas Carols lustily and listened to some magnificent carols and other Christmas music splendidly sung and played by Catherine Ennis and the choir of St Lawrence Jewry.  The address was given by Revd Cannon David Parrott, the Guild Vicar of St Lawrence Jewry.

A collection was taken during the service and, as usual, our share of the collection was given to CRASH, the construction industry charity that supports hospices, the homeless and other disadvantaged people.

The collection raised £658.00 which, with gift aid claims increased to £797.50 and we were very pleased to receive the following email from Lucie Gillard, the CRASHFundraising Executive:

“On behalf of CRASH, a huge thank you for supporting CRASH once again at your Carol Service yesterday evening.  The total raised was a fantastic £658.00 with gift aid claims bring the total to £797.50.  We are so grateful to be the chosen charity so thank you again for your continued support of CRASH and what we do.

Have a lovely Christmas.”

If any members of the Company who were not able to be at yesterday evening’s carol service would also like to contribute to CRASH they can do so here.

After the Carol Service we adjourned to the splendid surroundings of the Guildhall Club, where we enjoyed  a self-service sit-down buffet with wine.

The photograph shows the Master flanked by PM Alan Longhurst and HCA John Sayers at the sit-down buffet.
