Construction Site Visit
K1 Project, Knightsbridge
On 22nd March, as part of the Open Doors 2019 initiative, 7 members of the Company were hosted by Skanska at their prestigious project in Knightsbridge.
The assembly were greeted by Senior Project Manager, James Burgess who gave a 30 minute presentation, outlining the key features of the project including mixed purpose end use, steel frame and concrete frame, 3 levels of basement, the logistics of material delivery, a listed building forming part of the development, retained façades, oh yes and the small matter of they were having to pile to within 300mm of London Transport Underground lines!
The presentation was followed by a tour of the site where we witnessed about 150 operatives installing rebar, hugely impressive. During this period James, who was accompanied by Assistant Construction Supervisor, Connor O’Shea, answered the many and varied questions with enthusiasm.
