QUEST Worshipful Company of Constructors Award
QUEST - Institution of Civil Engineers & Worshipful Company of Constructors Award
This ICE award is in partnership with the Worshipful Company of Constructors (WCC). The award is for ICE members that wish to undertake a project that contributes to both their personal and career development.
The award offers £2,500 of financial support to help with your chosen project, which will typically last 18 months. A representative from ICE and the WCC will provide guidance and act as a mentor throughout your project.
Am I eligible?
- You must be an ICE Graduate or professionally qualified member and in full time employment
- Your project should not be directly connected with your current work
- The project should have some value to your employer and the broader profession
- You should have access to senior managers/board level directors within the company who will support the project and contribute to your development
One of the outcomes of the project must be a report of between 8,000 and 10,000 words
When do I apply?
- The deadline for 2013’s award is 26 April 2013
Applicants will be contacted with the result within a six week period (starting from the deadline date). This is subject to having received a fully completed application form, sponsor statement form and project synopsis.
How do I apply?
Forms will be available to download from the 8 January 2013.
- Complete an ICE QUEST Worshipful Company of Constructors Award Application Form and email to quest.awards@ice.org.uk
- Arrange for a ICE QUEST Worshipful Company of Constructors Sponsor Statement Form to be completed by your current employer and emailed to quest.awards@ice.org.uk
- You must also include a synopsis of your project of between 800-1000 words
All applications will be acknowledged and applicants will then be told when to expect to hear the result of their application.
How will the successful applicants be chosen?
All applications are reviewed by the QUEST Committee, who will consider the following:
- Project relevance to the profession and employer
- Level of support offered by employer
- Distinctiveness of project from applicant’s regular work
- Achievability of project
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD) value of project
- Assessment of sponsor’s statement
- The committees’ decision is final and feedback to unsuccessful individuals unfortunately cannot be given.
