Henry was born in 1966, in Farnborough Kent, educated at St. John’s College Choir School and The Leys School in Cambridge before moving on to the forerunner of Anglia Ruskin University to complete an ONC & HNC in Building Studies, on day-release from Sindall Construction (now Morgan Sindall), as a trainee QS and then into site management.
After 8 years, working his way up to Contracts Manager of a Specialist Sub Contractor, he left work to study Construction Engineering Management at Loughborough University as a sponsored student of Kier. Leaving university in 1995 at the age of 30, with a Second Class Honours degree, he started working in London, where he has remained, moving from a Contractor to Consultancy PM in 2003 and in 2009, created Lamb & Partners Ltd, a built environment consultancy, where he continues to undertake project and programme management work; bringing in other disciplines through mutual friendships or “Partners” developed over the last 20 plus years. Henry’s post degree employment has been with the likes of Kier, Mowlem, Bovis, Mace, Hornagold & Hills and Mouchel, where he resigned as a Grade B director, several years before the company dropped from the Stock Market. Lamb & Partners has and, in some cases, is still working with clients such as Mouchel, Hitachi, Metroline, Considerate Constructors, ArchCo, Peninsula Petroleum, and Cambridge Flat Roofing to name some of their bigger contracts.
Henry has served in the Territorial Army and Cambridgeshire Special Constabulary and is actively involved with the CIOB at Centre, Branch and Hub levels, where he has previously held the position of Chairman. Nationally he has served double terms on the Professional Conduct and Employer Engagement Committees and a single term as Trustee between 2013-16. Henry joined the Worshipful Company of Constructors in 2005, assisted the Company as a Steward initially before becoming a Court Assistant in 2009. He has been actively involved in the Merchandising and Events Committee for many years.
