Women in the Livery
Our Past Presidents, Mei Sim Lai OBE DL and Judy Tayler-Smith, and the Women in the Livery Committee have pleasure in inviting you to our 2022 Annual luncheon which this year will take the form of our Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Lunch. Her Majesty acceded to the Throne on 6 February 1952 when she was 25 years old. “My life will always be devoted to your service “was her pledge 70 years ago. This pledge was renewed 70 years later on 6 February this year at the start of a year long Celebration of her truly remarkable reign.
The Lunch will be held in the stately, prestigious and elegant Mountbatten Room at the RAC. Our principal speakers will be our Patron and Lord Mayor 2013-2014, Dame Fiona Woolf DBE DStJ DL and Lady Brewer OBE, Chairman of The Sheriffs ‘and Recorder’s Fund, Past Master of the Worshipful Companies of Musicians and Lady Mayoress ( 2005-2006 ).There will be an opportunity for some attendees to say a few words of Congratulations on the Queen’s historic reign of 70 years, her connections with the Livery and the City of London over the years. We are also arranging entertainment as well as a Special Cake for the occasion. This event is open to both men and women and Tables of 10 are available if you would like to bring others. All are most welcome.
Women in the Livery was first established as an informal group by Mei Sim Lai when she was Club President in 2006-2007. Its first ever event was a Reception held in 2007. Since then several other events have been held including International Women’s Day celebrations. In 2013 there was a series of fundraising events to raise funds to enter the first ever Women in the City and Livery Float in the Lord Mayor’s Show when Alderman Fiona Woolf took office as the 686th Lord Mayor of London. Women in the Livery became a formal Section of the City Livery Club on 20 April 2016. City Livery Club particularly welcomes women members and recognises the huge contribution that women can make to the Club and the City of London. The Women in the Livery Section is open to all members (men and women ) of the City Livery Club
