Golf Day 2019
This year the Worshipful Company of Constructors Annual Golf Day was again held at Croham Hurst Golf Club (near Croydon). It was held on the sunny afternoon of Thursday, the 18th July and was, as usual, excellently organised by PM Alan Longhurst.
Some 25 members and guests played, and the general view was that they all had an enjoyable time (even though some were fairly miserable about their standard of play), and the picture on the right show some of the players “relaxing” as they went round the picturesque course.
The competition was held to Stableford rules and there were two sections – one for members, who competed for the Ken Brown Constructors Cup; and one for guests, who competed for the AET Rose Bowl. This was one of the best turnouts for several years, and quite a few people were playing for the first time.
The members’ competition was won by PM Alan Longhurst, with John Sayers coming second and Steffan Raw-Rees a very close third.

The guests’ competition was won (as last year) by Richard Oakes, with Rosemary Lilley coming second and Lee Longhurst third.

Following the golf, and a refreshing drink, the players were joined by 5 more members and guests for a delicious three-course meal with wine, courtesy of the catering staff at Croham Hurst. At the end of the meal the Master thanked PM Alan Longhurst for arranging yet another superb annual golf event, something he had done each year for something like 15 years. He then presented the prizes and thanked everybody for attending and even indicated that if his experience going round the course was anything to go by, he might “THINK about taking up golf!”
