Wine Tasting
On 8th March 2018 some 19 members and their guests descended into the depths of Beadles Wine Bar in Leadenhall Market to experience and enjoy a conducted and informative wine tasting of Spanish wines accompanied by specially selected tapas.

The tasting session was expertly led by Maria Casquero from Bedales, who introduced the assembled company to oenology (the science of wine tasting) and described each of the wines tasted and the accompanying Tapas.
The evening was arranged by the Master and Mistress and we tasted 5 wines from various parts of Spain, starting with a Godello from Galicia and finishing with a Tempranillo from Rioja, with prices ranging from some £20 per bottle to £60 per bottle.

Maria emphasised the need to pair the wine with the food, paying particular emphasis to Balance, Texture, whether the wine complemented or contrasted with the food, and the Terroir, so we were treated to Tapas that varied from various crostini to Jamon Iberico and Manchego cheese.
