Visit to Bloomberg Building
10 July, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 5:00 pm
£5Event Navigation
By Courtesy of Livery Simon Odam and Bloomberg Inc we have been granted access for a tour of the new Bloomberg Building (near Cannon Street Station). This will be followed by a pay-as-you-go Lunch in a nearby hostelry and a visit to the newly opened Mithraeum exhibition in the basement of the Bloomberg Building.
The charge for the visit will be a £5 cash donation per person, the proceeds of which will be donated to the Master’s Charity Fund.
The tour of the Bloomberg Building will start with a short talk in one of the auditoria in the building. This will be at 10:30 am, but attendees are requested to book in with reception well before 10:am so that the building security procedures can be completed. On completion of the security procedures you will be directed to the sixth floor pantry area, where tea and coffee will be available.
The tour of the building will conclude at about 12:30, when we will adjourn to a nearby hostelry for lunch (pay-as-you-go), after which we will visit the London Mithreaum (the Roman Temple of Mithras), which was originally found in Walbrook Street in 1954 and has now been relocated to the basement of the Bloomberg Building (see photograph on the left). It is now probably the most famous 20th Century Roman find in London.
The flyer for the visit can be downloaded here, and early application to the organiser, JW Terry Withers, is advised as there are only 30 places available. Please also note that the closing date for applications is 1 June 2019, or earlier if we have filled all 30 places.
