Master’s Christmas Message
The Master has sent this message to all members, and it is repeated here to ensure that it has the widest distribution possible.
“The time has flown by since my Installation on 10th October and now we are on the eve of the Festive Season and thinking ahead to what the New Year holds in store for us. It is also a time that we reflect on the year past and the highs and sometimes the lows.
As a company we also think and reflect on those less fortunate than ourselves, those who are in genuine need of our help and support. To this end we remain committed to raising a significant sum to help drive our benevolence and increase our sphere of influence where it is most needed. We would like to thank all those who have contributed with their time and their money thus far and look forward to keeping the momentum going next year towards achieving our goals.
The Mistress and I hope to see as many of you at our events and functions throughout 2019 and especially the Masters weekend to Cambridge 12th-14th July, where we will be dining in both Downing and Queens colleges. This event is open to all and we look forward to as many of you as possible attending.
We have of course the Livery & Awards dinner in February, Companions lunch in May and the Sir Christopher Wren Banquet at Fishmongers’ Hall in June.
The last major function of my Year will be the Charity Gala dinner on 19th September 2019, held in the wonderful surroundings of the iconic Long Room at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
The Events committee will be organising a number of other social events throughout the year, which will include a visit to the Magic Circle, a private tour of the Imperial War Museum, Chinese New Year celebration and a Thames river boat dinner evening amongst other events. All of these events are in addition to our regular Constructors lunch and the re-introduction next year of a regular monthly informal social gathering of ‘Grapes and Gossip’ at various hostelries in the City. May I encourage you to regularly visit the new web site for further details of what’s going on in your company.
The Mistress and I look forward to seeing as many of you as we can next year. Meanwhile, may we take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry and relaxing Christmas with family and friends. We also wish you good health, happiness and prosperity for the New Year ahead.”
