Virtual Informal Networking Event (VINE)

The Second VINE event took place on 16th April using “Zoom” and lasted for a ‘full’ hour.  As has become the ‘tradition’ it was organised by Liveryman Gary Jackson and splendidly facilitated by Freeman Stewart Owen.

There was a strong ‘virtual turnout’ of 19 members, 4 of whom were new to the VINE environment and whilst there was great mix of active participants (and a few who were somewhat less active, but nonetheless welcome), and these were invited to share their interests and give their ‘30 second pitch’.

A quick review of previous event actions and notes was made and there was a group exchange of thoughts and ideas. It was generally thought that the virtual event was considered beneficial as it allowed members to keep in touch and connected to each other and the Company in these times of ‘lock-down’. The facilitator was also grateful for the constructive contributions and the judicious use of the mute button by those who were not immediately contributing to the discussion as it made ‘managing’ the event that much easier. But participants are encouraged to use the chat button (bottom centre/left) to share messages with the group, each other, or the facilitator.

A lack of visible ‘suitable beverages’ was also noted – Please remember that, despite its virtual nature, VINE is a social event!

We expect to hold these events regularly until such time as we can revert to our normal meeting arrangements and we will publish all future Virtual Informal Networking Events (VINE) on the website.

The next one is scheduled for two weeks hence, but in the meantime, do ‘Be Safe, Be Healthy, and Stay at Home’, and also remember to reach out if you need a pal and that the Company has an Almoner who would be more than happy to help members who want help or support of any kind.  She is Liveryman Cheryl Moreton, and she can be reached by email at almoner@constructorscompany.org.uk.

Remember also that ‘This Too Shall Pass’.
